Description

This seminar will highlight the importance of self-care for mental health professionals. As the mental health crisis has evolved, so has our work. We are tasked with long days and even longer wait lists. To survive and thrive as counselors, we must take time for ourselves.

The presenters will encourage attendees to explore the varying challenges that can impair our motivation to continue doing this work. Attendees will engage in active practices that can be used throughout the week and even in between sessions while also solidifying the material through self-practice/self-reflection activities as described by Bennett-Levy and Haarhoff (2019). Participants will also be introduced to 5NP ear acupuncture and interested individuals can engage in this evidence-based stress-relieving technique.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Participants will identify reasons for burnout, vicarious trauma, and self-depleting practices.
• Participants will engage in restorative practices to help alleviate stress.
• Participants will be introduced to the benefits of ear acupuncture as a restorative practice.

Policies

• Advanced Registration is REQUIRED - this event will be limited to 75 registrants. $45 for RIMHCA members, $65 for non-members (+processing fees)
• Registration  is processed through Wix (credit/debit cards) or through PayPal, but a  PayPal account is not required. You may simply fill out your  credit/debit card information to proceed with registration once prompted
• RIMHCA Membership must be up-to-date - please contact Ashley@RIMHCA.org with any questions about your membership status
• 3 CEUs will be offered for LMHCs, 3 CEs are pending for LICSWs!  Registrants will need to attend the entire presentation and submit an  evaluation in order to receive their CEUs.
• No refunds will be provided after Wednesday, May 8th. Refunds will incur a $2 processing fee.
